Richard A. Panzer, Ph.D.


Richard A. Panzer, Ph.D., is the founder and Executive Director of the Center for Relationship Intelligence. A public speaker and developer of family life educational programs, he has spoken to health educators, social workers, parents’ and community groups all over the U.S., and in Beijing, Antigua, Trinidad, Montreal, Toronto, Frankfurt, Istanbul, London, Paris, Prague, Seoul, Sydney, Okinawa, Osaka, and Tokyo.

Dr. Panzer is the author of the Free Teens HIV/AIDS, STDs, and Pregnancy Prevention program, founded in 1989 and which exists in ten languages. This multimedia program has been used in 38 states in the U.S.A., Canada, and 70 nations in Europe, Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. It has been endorsed by the National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information as “scientifically accurate, in conformance with public health principles and policies, appropriate for the intended audience.” In 2004, he cofounded CultureMachine, a youth development program which trains youth to create their own positive media.

Richard Panzer is also the author of the Relationship Intelligence curriculum. In an evaluation by the Institute for American Values, the RI curriculum was selected as one of the top three marriage curricula in the country, stating: “Relationship Intelligence provides a clear marriage vision, portraying marriage as the key to personal growth in love, intimacy, and sexual satisfaction.”

In 2009, Dr. Panzer co-authored The War on Intimacy: how agenda –driven sex ed sabotages committed relationships and our nation’s health. This book was endorsed by Professor Robert George at Princeton U., Dr. Ted Green at the AIDS Prevention Research Project at the Harvard School of Public Health, Dr. Thomas
Lickona, author of Character Matters, Dr. Joseph McIlhaney, founder of The Medical Institute for Sexual Health & Dr. Paul Vitz, Senior Scholar at the Institute for Psychological Sciences.

Richard Panzer also co-authored a children’s book called Mommy, Daddy, Where Do Babies Come From? read by Dr. Laura Schlessinger on her national radio program. He directed the Real Deal on Love, Relationships, and Marriage documentary video/DVD in 2005, the Lovesmart DVD in 2007 and the
CultureMachine iMagazine CD-ROM in 2008.

Dr. Panzer has been interviewed on dozens of radio stations nationwide, the Standard News and USA Radio Network, the nationally syndicated Newstalk Television show on teen pregnancies and letters published in the New York Times, Journal of the American Medical Association, and other publications. Free Teens activities have been reported on in Newsweek magazine, the Star-Ledger, Herald News, The Record, Miami Herald and other newspapers.

He has spoken on several college campuses including UC Berkeley, Mercy College, Hofstra University, Mount St. Mary’s College, the State University of New York at New Paltz, Yale University, the University of Texas in Austin, the University of Maryland, and San Francisco State University. A graduate of Yale University, Mr.
Panzer is married and the father of 4 children. His doctorate is in the field of Educational Communication and Technology from New York University.

Diego Costa

Workshop Title:
CultureMachine: Harnessing the Power of
Youth-Created Media to Spread the Message
of Healthy Relationships


We all know that young people today live and breathe in the world of music, culture and the Internet. In this hands-on workshop, participants will experience how writing and recording music for posting on the Internet can help teenagers to internalize and own the message of self-leadership and healthy relationships. Mr. Costa will also break down the steps of creating an online community that supports healthy relationships in your city and state as well as his vision of a nationwide youth-created Internet community that celebrates good character and committed relationships.

Presenter’s Bio: Diego Costa
Brazilian-born Diego Costa is a professional musician/singer/songwriter and record producer. He’s the co-founder and director of CultureMachine, a Music and Media production enterprise that fosters young artists to use their talents to make a positive impact in other people’s lives. Diego is also a web designer and an online community developer. He gives workshops for teenagers on Songwriting and Music Production as well as training for youth workers and non-profits on how to harness the power of youth created media to promote character and healthy relationships.

Linda Haft

1998 -present Free Teens USA/Ctr. f. Relationship Intelligence- Hudson Cty Education Director
As Director of Education for Free Teens USA/Center for Relationship Intelligence in Hudson and Bergen Counties, Ms. Haft has been responsible to develop partnerships with community organizations to offer workshops for parents. She also educates 2,500 6th-12th grade youth each year in Hudson County.

1993-1996 International Education Foundation
Worked in former Soviet Union* as lecturer and supervising social assistance programs. Linda Haft has presented the “Relationship Intelligence” material in 10 countries since 1993, (Belarus, Estonia, Ukraine, Russia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden, Canada and the United States.)
