A Reflection on the Film 'The Fellowship of the Ring'
by Renee des Lauriers

™ & © 2001 New Line Productions, Inc.

"The Fellowship of the Rings" brought Tolkien's world of magic, beasts and rings of power alive, but although fans of Tolkien and those who never read the book will love it, this movie is not for everyone. Some Harry Potter fans may find it a lot more violent then "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone".

The movie begins with a little bit from "The Hobbit." And then in the Shire with Bilbo's party. The party scene was done well and the fireworks were fantastic. Then Bilbo tries to part with the ring and you see the power it has over him.

For the most part the movie follows the book, with a few changes. For example Frodo doesn't sing any never-ending songs. For the most part it follows the book.

Some of the scene of the two wizards fighting is excellent, other parts of it are just pathetic. Some parts of this fight didn't make Gandalf's magic seem real at all.

The movie is exciting and suspenseful all the way through. And from the beginning it keeps getting better and better. Rivendell looks beautiful and the Ringwraiths are terrifying with their headless faces and bloody black horses. Also there is the monster that was awaked in the mines.

But sadly two hours and fifty-eight minutes after it begins, it ends leaving you crying for more.
